Arctic Ice Report & Route to Phipps Island
One of the highlights of our recent journey was receiving the Ice Report late on Sunday evening. The path to the northeast began to clear, opening up the possibility of reaching Phipps Island (80.48 degrees). This remote destination, known for its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife, was within our reach.
Anchoring in Signehamna Fjord
At 00:25h, we anchored in the breathtaking Signehamna Fjord, a serene location perfect for an overnight rest. The next day, we dedicated our time to essential training. Our team practiced bear safety procedures, including firing rounds and using bear flares, ensuring everyone's safety in this wild terrain.
Paddling & Kayaking in Arctic Waters
Following the training, we organized a Stand-Up Paddling and Kayaking session in the calm bay. This allowed us to test our gear in Arctic conditions, an essential part of preparing for the journey ahead.
Journey North & Spectacular Views
As we continued our voyage north, the weather provided stunning views for Andreas and Kevin's shift. Clear blue skies, vast blue waters, and majestic ice-covered mountains stretched as far as the eye could see—over 150km in the distance. We finally anchored at Havhestbreen at 04:00h, ready for the next leg of our adventure.
